Value Testing Exercise
30/09/2009
Green & Kassab worked with United Lincoln Hospitals NHS Trust (ULH) to deliver a value testing exercise across the full range of Corporate services to identify potential areas where the Trust could deliver cash releasing savings that would have no detrimental impact on front line patient care.
The cost profile of ULH was compared budget by budget, line by line, using a series of key performance indicators with that of other "best in class" Trusts to specifically identify those department/areas of expenditure that would benefit from a more detailed review and further support, thereby maximising the return on management and advisory resources expended.
Through the value testing exercise Green & Kassab identified a potential for cost improvement of £4M, which represents approximately 10.8% of current expenditure. These savings could be achieved by firstly maximising income and then introducing efficiencies into other non pay budget to get performance up to comparable similar services in high performing Trusts.
